Late Night Ramblings

I don't think of life as being positive or negative. From a scientific point of view, and a logical one, it's neutral.

The passing of good times, and good people. Passing. A never ending flow, and indifferent.

And wha of loss? Do we really lose anything if it remains in our hearts, minds, and physical world in one way or another? I think not. Nothing ever goes away, no one ever passes. Everything is forever.

But the inability to speak with someone ever again, to never be able to share a story with them, to know their reaction, to hear their voice, the noise they make throughout the day, their company, their opinion, their stories. That, is what most people refer to when they refer to loss.

However, I think of it the same as one would a performance. Asking someone to remain on stage after their show concludes makes no sense. Because that was it, that was the show. They did all there is to do. Nothing less, and there's nothing more.

They're not the first to go, nor the last. For our time too shall come, and so will that of those after us.

Those who make no peace with that will be miserable for life.

And is truly loss, or the lack of other people in their life that is the true problem they must address? Would they be as sad had there been ten of more of that one person in their life?

Life gives and takes, and if your favorite show ends, then it's time to pick a new one. New people that you will love as much, if not more. To move forward with, along with those before them who still remain with you, but in a different way.

May those we love live the longest life one can live.
